Aerospace_propellerFew places in the United States have a more important and even romantic involvement with aviation and aerospace than does the San Fernando Valley. The conquest of air and space, to our good fortune, coincided with the development of motion pictures and photographic technology, so the presence of the film industry in the San Fernando Valley has contributed invaluable images of the historical growth of aviation.

The Museum of the San Fernando Valley plans to spend a significant portion of our efforts to document the ever-growing history of aviation and aerospace in our region.

From discovering the motive of early aviators  (some of the most notable of whom are buried near the Portal of the Folded Wings in Valhalla Cemetery), to the emergence of aircraft as weapons and their use in the making of motion pictures, aviation has a huge role in the Valley history.

Join us in this section as we explore aerial photography, the development of Valley airports, the roles aircraft workers played in World War II and the Cold War eras, the lives of aviators, production skills and technology, and even the history of stunt pilots. We are fortunate to have among our advisors and as a Board member, Grady Ellis Talbot, noted combat pilot for the United States Air Force in Vietnam.

We’ll need lots of volunteers and support to secure and sometimes rescue Valley aerospace and aviation history. Come join The Museum in our adventure.
